You are only as strong as your greatest Excuse

I admit, I make good excuses for myself.

Working out is something I love. It makes me feel great.

I sometimes don't prioritize my workout. Between kids, dinner (making, eating, cleaning up), and work it just seems like there isn't enough time in the day. I can totally justify not having time.

I get frustrated at myself off and on, but I have found my workout group that has kept me wanting to not miss a day!

Let's go back to 2020. In the fall, I stuck to a workout plan that was 5 days of strict program and 2 days of just doing something, which included walking with my kids. The program included things I liked, but not everything I loved. Sometimes it was such a struggle, and I would get distracted. I completed the program though.

Then, I told myself I was going to do another program but do it myself. Well, those excuses came in way too many times for the next 3 weeks or so. And the workouts just didn't push me enough.

Finally, I joined an outdoor fitness group right before Thanksgiving! Yes, right before it really started getting cold. I have gone to workouts most days 4-7 days a week. I miss some weekends because it doesn't work out with our family's plans that day. I miss a weekday if I have an appointment, the kids need me, or I have a work meeting. If it snowed or if it rains, we do a zoom class together. And there are a few recorded classes from instructors in the group to do and even a Facebook Live Class weekly.

For the most part, I block my calendar and show up! When I don't, I miss it so much, and I am not as happy.

This commitment makes me do work later at night (which I have always done - lets be honest) or early mornings. The morning part is good because I want to get up earlier and extra motivation to help me get into that habit is welcomed!

Another benefit is, I am happier and can be more productive during the day at work. So really it is a win-win.

So what are you making excuses for that you shouldn't be?
